I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front just lately – since I came back from a weekend of beer and music at the Glastonbudget Festival. I’ve just about recovered now, so onward with Doctor Who stuff…
The mid-season finale of DoctorWho -Â A Good Man Goes to War – was an absolute classic. I loved every minute of it.
And, at long last, the long-standing question of the true identity of River Song has finally been answered. And what a terrific reveal it was. Hats off to you, Mr Moffat.
But although we know that River Song aka Melody Pond is the daughter of Rory and Amy, there are still plenty of unsolved mysteries to keep us on the edge our seats in season 6, part 2. Here’s a list I made the questions still left unanswered:
Who is Madame Kovarian?
We know a little more about her than we did at the beginning of the series, when she was referred to as Eye Patch Lady and her only appearances were through the ‘hatches’ in Amy’s mind.
We know that she plans to use Amy’s daughter aka River Song aka Melody Pond (a part Human/part Timelord hybrid) as a weapon against The Doctor but why she wants to destroy The Doctor is still unknown.
She referred to a war against The Doctor, but again, the origins of this war are still unknown. Could it simply be, as River implied, that she and her ilk are scared of The Doctor and this is just a preemptive strike? Or did The Doctor do something or is going to do something that will start a war?
Who Killed The Doctor and Why?
Way back in the series 6 premiere, we saw The Doctor killed in modern day America by a spaceman that emerged from a lake.
The identity of his killer still remains a mystery although the obvious choice would be the Little Girl aka River Song aka Melody Pond (presumably) whom we have already seen in the garb.
Potentially, however, anyone could have been in that spacesuit but a more important question is why did they kill The Doctor? And why did The Doctor allow it to happen?
It seemed as though The Doctor knew what what was going to happen, so it is probable it is all part of a master plan that he devised himself. The Doctor began to regenerate before he was killed, so could his regeneration energy have been collected somehow by the spaceman and taken back to the TARDIS, which is parked at the bottom of the lake?
Why Did The Silence Create the Spacesuit and Kidnap The Little Girl?
Staying with the spacesuit and the opening two episodes of series 6, we still don’t know the motives behind why The Silence created the spacesuit and kidnapped the Little Girl (who is presumably River).
The most probable reason is so they had someone to pilot their spacetimeship (or rudimentary TARDIS) but is there more to it than that? Something tells me that we’re going to be seeing more of The Silence in the series finale.
Who Blew Up The TARDIS?
Going all the way back to series 5 now, we still do not know who or what blew up the TARDIS in The Pandorica Opens. The only clue we have is an ominous voice that proclaimed “Silence Will Fall” through the TARDIS’s dashboard.
It was the TARDIS exploding that caused the cracks in time that were shown in many of the episodes in series 5 and right before it blew up, it traveled to Amy’s House on 26th June 2010 – is this a significant date?
What Were The Scorch Marks Outside Amy’s House?
Continuing with unresolved mysteries from series 5, when River is transported to Amy’s House on 26th June 2010, she noticed some scorch marks on the grass outside. As far as I’m aware, what produced these scorch marks is still unknown.
And, staying with the theme of Amy’s house, why were there stairs that led to nowhere? Crazy sh*t going on at Amy’s pad
Well, I think that’s all the main one’s. There’s a few other minor mysteries I haven’t mentioned but I’m running out of time.
